Inclusive Caribbean Terms (CTI), sometimes referred to as Caribbean Standard Terms (SCT), are another type of charter contract that is more inclusive. It represents three meals a day and fuel for four hours of cruise a day. Some yachts under the terms of CTI include basic drinks (not vintage wines or champagnes), but this is mainly produced in the Virgin Islands. To begin with, greater skill and experience is required to sail safely on a yacht of this size; it is approaching the point where many non-professional skippers are no longer comfortable.
Additional charges for included yachts may include crew gratuities, optional communications, optional marina mooring, activities and any meals brought ashore, optional rental costs for special equipment, and activities such as scuba diving. Communications are another cost and, with satellite and Internet communications options, an important one for most charterers. On the other hand, in regions that offer a large fleet of crewed yacht charter such as the Mediterranean, luxury yacht charter costs are more attractive due to increased competition. A charter yacht recently launched by a famous builder with a popular and experienced charter crew will have the best prices for its size range.
It represents 60-80% of the final price and refers to the cost of the yacht itself, its insurance, all its equipment and toys, the salary of the crew and the services for the entire duration of the charter. Some yachts come with zorbs, marine pools (a large net structure that keeps marine life out of a defined swimming area), and slides that can be deployed from the top of the yacht directly into the ocean. There is a variation in the way charter operators handle this; for example, towels and sheets are included in the cost of renting a yacht; for others, it is part of a mandatory welcome or starter package. These charters must last at least one week or the charterer must be willing to pay a full week rate if he wants to rent the yacht for less than a week.
Most yachts now operate at a year-round fare, but a small handful of yachts offer a slightly lower fare for charter flights during the summer season. Sailing yachts are a popular choice among yachts enthusiasts, but by far the most popular charter yachts are motor yachts. The standard amount of a gratuity on a yacht with incidental charges is 15-20%, in addition to the basic charter rate. All of the yacht's laundry, including towels, sheets and table linen, is included in the rental rate, but some yachts charge for washing the charterer's personal items.
This is given to the yacht in cash prior to your charter to allow the Captain to purchase fuel and provide the yacht with food and drinks as per your preference.
