What happens during yacht week?

You can expect to spend the day relaxing on board and sailing from port to port, with stops for lunch or swimming. Each day there will also be a Yacht Week party or event in which you can participate, as well as exploring the landscape and local cuisine of each port of call. Yacht Week is known to be a little disorganized. It's all part of the fun and madness of the trip, but when the crew drinks as much as the guests, you can't always count on things going exactly as scheduled.

Patience is your best friend here, and a glass of wine always seems to help too. Stick to fresh snacks and plan to buy just two meals a day during the week. Unless you're on a tight budget, plan to eat out at least one meal a day. Yacht Week may seem like a convention of those people and whether you can handle a full week of partying practically non-stop is something you can determine for yourself.

Eat, sleep and live on a yacht for seven days in a paradise of your choice and enjoy the flexibility offered by yacht travel. Take a bunch of (mostly) twentysomethings, put them on a yacht in the middle of the most beautiful places in the world (Greece, Thailand, Croatia, British Virgin Islands, etc.), offer professional photographers, planned parties and lots of alcohol and there you have a foolproof recipe for the best week of your life. But before committing to your first trip with the travel company, it's best to know exactly what you're getting into, because we all have different styles of travel and Yacht Week is definitely not for everyone. Since I went to The Yacht Week, they have added several new routes, including a route from Italy, which they are promoting as slower paced for “sophisticated sailors and food fanatics”.

Therefore, to help those who are struggling with the initial questions, such as “How do I prepare for Yacht Week? , but I don't need another checklist of sunscreen, bikinis and beer, I created this special guide just for you, plus a packing guide. In preparation for my second dose of The Yacht Week, I found myself reflecting on how unprepared I had been for my first The Yacht Week. If you look at the landing page on The Yacht Week site to see your chosen location, you'll see an example route, highlights of the route, and what a typical day will look like there. Some rooms in the monohauls and catamarans offered by Yacht Week are larger than others, but the small rooms are small for two people.

If you can't wait to get to The Yacht Week and have fun all week and your friend is looking for a quiet and relaxing week of sailing and sightseeing, it's not going to work. Whether you book a pre-designed package or build your own, every yacht that sets sail at The Yacht Week includes a skipper on board. If you don't have a group of friends big enough to fill your boat, The Yacht Week's Crew Finder is the best resource to gather a crew. At The Yacht Week parties you usually get one or two free drinks with your wristband, but then you have to pay for your drinks.

There are now four types of yachts you can book with The Yacht Week: Economy, Standard, Premium and Premium Plus.
